"Role[...]" cannot be removed with knife

After adding "Role[something]" using knife to a node by accident (which resulted in "recipe[Role[something]]"), I cannot remove it easily.
Every execution of "knife node run_list remove some.host.name 'recipe[Role[something]]'" adds another layer of 'recipe[...]' to that line instead of removing it.

So now I've got:
"recipe[recipe[recipe[recipe[recipe[recipe[recipe[recipe[recipe[recipe[Role[something]]]]]]]]]]]"
in the run_list and the only way to remove it is by editing node's json description.
