Chef server installation using chef-solo initially fails on Ubuntu 12.04

Description

I've installed Chef Server using chef-solo as described on the wiki. Besides chef-server::rubygems-install I also included the chef-server::apache-proxy recipe. The chef-solo run failed with an error related to update-java-alternatives. I've attached the stacktrace. When I ran chef-solo again, there were no errors, and the server appears to be fully running.

I got the same error with ami-a29943cb. The problem seems to be that in 12.04 amd64, the jdk is no longer in /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk but instead in /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-amd64, but the java cookbook included in the bootstrap archive wasn't updated yet to a version that is aware of this.

I was able to work around it by installing openjdk manually and creating a symlink before running chef-solo:

sudo apt-get -y install openjdk-6-jdk
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-amd64 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk
