You are right in that we've been really remiss in not getting 11.1.0 out the door. We did some reorging of the engineering teams internally to help us streamline our process and that, ironically, set this back. We also, in the great tradition of software estimating, were too optimistic in how quickly we would complete the work involved.
The good news however is that we're in the testing phase of 11.1.0 right now. Expect this to land in a week or two. If it does not, feel free to reach out to me, as I'm the lead on getting 11.1.0 out the door. Should it fail to land within the time I said, it's entirely on me.
mm at getchef.com reaches me.
If you're feeling optimistic in our work, beta builds and nightlies of 11.1.0 are publicly available, although you of course use them at your own risk. You can access them using the omnitruck api, which is documented here: http://docs.opscode.com/api_omnitruck.html
Every time we put a build through CI for the open source server it lands in our public s3 bucket which is what the omnitruck API is accessing.
If you do test out a beta build or nightly, email me and let me know what you think. I love feedback. Be sure to include the build package name, so I can pinpoint when it was built so I know exactly what is in it.
We've also got a changelog of everything in this release that you can see in the omnibus-chef-server repo: https://github.com/opscode/omnibus-chef-server/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md
Sorry for the delay in getting this out. It's entirely our fault. As a result we're planning on making change so we don't have delays like this in the future. And just to reiterate, expect the release in one to two weeks.
